Orthobiologic injections use naturally derived substances such as platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow concentrate, or adipose-derived cells to stimulate the healing response in injured or arthritic tissues.
Used for tendinitis, partial tendon tears, osteoarthritis, ligament injuries, and muscle injuries that have not responded to standard conservative treatment.
A sample of blood, bone marrow, or fat tissue is collected and processed to concentrate the biologic material. The preparation is then injected into the affected area, typically under ultrasound guidance. The procedure takes 30 to 90 minutes.
Risks include temporary soreness, infection, and variable response to treatment. Results depend on the condition being treated and individual patient factors.
