Elbow Arthroscopy

Elbow arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure used to diagnose and treat conditions inside the elbow joint including loose bodies, osteochondral defects, and synovitis.

⏱️
Typical Recovery Time
Most patients return to light activity within 1 to 2 weeks. Return to throwing or heavy use of the elbow typically takes 3 to 4 months.

Who Is This For?

Indicated for patients with persistent elbow pain, locking, catching, or stiffness caused by loose bodies, osteochondritis dissecans, or inflammatory synovitis that has not responded to conservative treatment.

What to Expect

Performed under regional or general anesthesia, typically taking 30 to 60 minutes. Small incisions are made around the elbow to insert the arthroscope and instruments. Most patients go home the same day.

Risks to Know

Risks include nerve injury, infection, stiffness, and incomplete resolution of symptoms. The elbow has important neurovascular structures nearby that require careful surgical technique.
